Forum on “Science, Technology, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship: Drivers for Sustainable Development in the Mekong Delta” Held at Can Tho University

On June 16, 2023, Can Tho University (CTU) organized an online forum titled “Science, Technology, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship: Drivers for Sustainable Development in the Mekong Delta.” This event marked the sixth session in the series of quarterly forums of the Sustainable Development Mekong Delta 2045 (SDMD 2045) initiative.

Overview of the Forum

The forum took place directly at the Executive Board Hall, Administration Building, Can Tho University, and was streamed online via Zoom, the SDMD 2045 Fanpage, CTU’s Facebook page, and Hau Giang Radio and Television. The event attracted the participation of many leading scientists, experts, and leaders, as well as managers and scientists from international organizations, government agencies, departments, institutes, universities, enterprises, and associations within and outside the Mekong Delta region.

IVS was honored to be one of the SOFTWARE SOLUTION companies attending the program as a delegate. Additionally, there was the presence of leaders and managers in the field of Science and Technology.

Initiated and chaired by Can Tho University since 2022, the SDMD 2045 forum is an important event that aims to connect stakeholders both domestically and internationally to propose directions, policies, and solutions for the government and relevant agencies. The forum also fosters cooperation in building and implementing practical programs and projects to promote the sustainable development of the Mekong Delta region.

In his opening remarks, Prof. Dr. Ha Thanh Toan, Rector of Can Tho University, emphasized the crucial role of science, technology, innovation, and entrepreneurship in promoting the development of businesses and communities, especially in the context of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. He also highlighted the importance of entrepreneurship and enterprise creation in the current trend of integration and development, contributing to addressing global challenges and aiming for the sustainable development of the Mekong Delta.

Mr. Tran Duy Dong, Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment, highly appreciated the contributions of Can Tho University in initiating and chairing the SDMD 2045 Forum. He affirmed that through 57 years of development, Can Tho University has been at the forefront of cooperation, human resource training, scientific research, and technological development, playing a significant role in the socio-economic development of the Mekong Delta region.

During the forum, delegates listened to reports and discussions on various topics such as the role of scientific research, technology transfer, and innovation in the development cooperation of the Mekong Delta; national innovation vision and solutions; motivation and innovation activities and entrepreneurship in Dong Thap province; youth innovation and entrepreneurship – future vision; and the role of science, technology, innovation, and entrepreneurship in sustainable development.

The forum provided a platform for managers, experts, scientists, and businesses to share experiences and propose practical and feasible solutions to promote the development of science, technology, innovation, and entrepreneurship in the Mekong Delta region. The information and opinions shared at the forum contributed to the implementation of policies, resolutions, and action programs for the development of the Mekong Delta.

The SDMD 2045 forum has increasingly proven its effectiveness, becoming an effective bridge for cooperation programs and sustainable development of the region and the country.
